Craig's paintings run the gamut from abstract expressionism to graphic realism, each painting is a reflection of his eclectic vision.
His homage series honors the pop art greats such as Warhol, Haring, and Lichtenstein and his famed Populus series captures the essence of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Mick Jagger, Van Gogh, Picasso, Basquiat, Queen Elizabeth, Mickey Mouse and John Lennon just to name a few.
These images were inspired from an epiphany he experienced standing on a balcony overlooking Orange Beach, Alabama where patrons enjoying a wedding party seemed to form the shape of an eye. This moment resulted in his signature style of creating multi dimensional paintings within one canvas, where hundreds of tiny people formed iconic faces and imagery.
His works are now in the homes and offices of celebrities, corporations, sports stars, pharmaceutical giants, hedge funds as well as important art collections all over the world.
"Inspiration begins with a 'What if...' as I consider alternate imagery, surfaces, effects, results, etc. It comes from the past in conjunction with now. Like a bolt of lightning..." ~ Craig Alan
