THE CAT BEHIND THE HAT

In 1957, Dr. Seuss revolutionized the way that generations of children would learn to read. In the decades since "The Cat in the Hat" exploded onto the children’s book scene, Theodor Seuss Geisel has become a central character in the pantheon of American literary mythology. While "The Cat in the Hat" remains his most iconic work, the Springfield Zoo was a beloved part of his childhood, resulting in 17 astounding sculptures created during the 1930's, which remain today, as some of the finest examples of his inventive and brilliant creativity. Look Magazine on June 7th, 1938 dubbed Ted Geisel "The World’s Most Eminent Authority on Unheard-Of Animals." Dr. Seuss’s Collection of Unorthodox Taxidermy will, no doubt, continue to be one of the most sought-after gems from his diamond mine of artistic treasures.
