ROMERO BRITTO

BIOGRAPHY

Although often compared to Keith Haring, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, Romero Britto is a young artist who has emerged with his own imagery and a unique style that is in fact re-defining Pop Art today. Britto's paintings capture the ecstasy of the imagination.

His spontaneity and playfulness executed with vibrant colors and blatantly unconventional daring formulas have the ability to appear almost childlike in their style. Albeit upon further observation his abstract constructions and highly sophisticated formations reveal his fundamental command of space, color and the visual experience.

In 1989, Romero Britto's work was brought to the attention of Michel Roux, former U.S. importer of Absolut Vodka and creator of their legendary advertising campaign. As a result, Britto was crowned their newest showcase artist along with other contemporary art heavy weights such as Ed Ruscha.

Britto's worldwide exposure propelled his inevitable rise to becoming one of today's most celebrated and recognizable young artists.

As so many modern masters, Britto has already prevailed in creating a characteristic look incorporating his trademark signature amidst skillfully balanced patterns and bold black out lines throughout his distinctive compositions. When not before a canvas, Britto lends his support to major modern concerns such as the American Red Cross, Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, Best Buddies International, Amnesty Internationals "Artists For Amnesty", numerous AIDS related causes, and various environmental organizations.
