Brandon Ralph is a photographer based in New York City whose work explores the constantly shifting culture in America through documenting the social constructs seen from city to city and town to town. Often shooting in black and white, his photographs present a vast and varied look at the country inviting the viewer to reexamine topics like nostalgia, and change.

In Birth Of A City the set of photographic images, we find the ever changing architectural skyline of New York which is sprinkled with wooden water towers of the bygone eras of seltzer bottles and street gas lamps. These photos hold on to the one consistent object of the city, the juxtaposition of century old towers in an urban landscape that continues to change. Add the female figure to the subtle evolving skyline for a few moments and you find yourself looking through a new window to the city Brandon grew up in.
