BRADLEY THEODORE

BIOGRAPHY

Bradley Theodore is a Caribbean-born American artist known for his colorful paintings and prints of fashion icons, including Kate Moss, Karl Lagerfeld, Kendall Jenner, and Anna Wintour. Inspired by contemporary fashion and the works of Frida Kahlo, Theodore portrays people he has met at parties as well as historic figures like Marie Antoinette both as skeletons and themselves. “I really want to make sure that I do the best that I can do and work with the best people,” he has said. “I’m a painter. I want to be the best painter I can be. If I do this, I want to work with the best person.” Born in Middle Caicos, Turks and Caicos Islands, he was raised in Miami, FL, before moving to New York as a young man. Working as a digital designer in the city, he became involved in the street art scene, producing murals on buildings around Lower Manhattan. Discovered by Maddox Gallery, Theodore was propelled to acclaim by critics and collectors alike. In 2016, the short documentary film on the artist, Becoming: Bradley Theodore, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The artist currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
