DEAD HEADS REJOICE !!!
“One More Saturday Night”
Debuts a Truly Rare Exhibition of Grateful Dead Photographs And Backstage Passes Tour Iconography.
It’ll be “One More Saturday Night” at POP International Galleries on Saturday, September 7, 2013! Featuring rarely before seen photographs and tour iconography of one of the greatest legends in music history, Grateful Dead, “One More Saturday Night” promises to be the POP event of the season; giving Deadheads, art and music lovers a once in a lifetime opportunity to see truly historic imagery that captured one of the greatest bands ever.
Featuring the photography of Roberto Rabanne, “One More Saturday Night” will showcase rarely before seen images of Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann on tour throughout their storied career. Rabanne often toured with the band after befriending Jerry Garcia who gave the photographer VIP access and allowed him to do several studies of the group over the years.
When the Grateful Dead took the stage, the venue issued thousands of tickets, but only a fortunate few were able to get their hands on the illustrious Backstage Pass. Antonio Reonegro was commissioned by the band to create unique artworks for backstage passes that told the story, with each tour representing a chapter in the book. The chapters all worked around a common theme, like a unique geographical region or an adaptation of pop culture imagery. Tony went on to create 155 backstage passes for the band over a six-year period. Due to their ephemeral nature, these rarely seen mementos had all but disappeared with collectors paying large sums for actual passes. But now, this limited edition collection of work released by Reonegro, have allowed for the passes and never-before-seen designs to rise from the Dead!
