MACKENZIE THORPE - BIO
"In a world deprived of colour I see an abundance of light."
Internationally renowned artist Mackenzie Thorpe was raised in an industrial town in Northern England during a period of long economic hardship. Struggling with dyslexia early in his life, Mackenzie found salvation in painting and drawing. His works express an entire range of human emotion, from the special bond of love and friendship, to the importance of self reflection and individual triumphs. His works are a tribute to the creativity within all of us and are a vivid expression of hope and the human spirit.
Though later in his life, influenced and inspired by Van Gogh and Rothko, Mackenzie Thorpe is a unique artist who paints obsessively whatever emerges from his complex psyche, in whichever style best communicates the message. Working primarily in pastels, his imagery ranges from funny animal characters to dark-cloaked figures carrying hearts or flowers. His palette moves from gray tones to vivid primary colors.
Mackenzie was born the first of seven children in 1956. His upbringing was no different to that of the thousands of other shildren born into a solid North Easters, working class setting. There were financial hardships and tough lessons to be learnt on the streets of post war Middlesbrough.
His childhood experiences and recollections have created in him a mixed bag of emotions. He remembers with affection and fondness the strong feeling of community, the warmth of togetherness that comes from sharing hard times and struggle. He remembers the quick street humour that both then and now is so much part of everyday life in Middlesbrough as well as the pain of isolation and loneliness, the fear and darkness that at times would swamp his world.
Mackenzie Thorpe's Art is amongst the most sought after in the UK today. His reputation as an artist continues to grow worldwide on an unprecedented scale. He is an ordinary individual, who has, through his art, the extraordinary ability to convey emotions and messages that speak a universal language.

BREAKING AND ENTERING
is a demonstration of UR New York’s vast range and ability to continuously produce groundbreaking urban inspired art. Artists Michael Baca - aka “2ESAE” and Fernando Romero aka “SKI” are committed to “breaking and entering” into the mainstream –“letting their art loose on the world, all the while breaking the status quo and entering the art world on their own terms”– offering a synergy of intensely personal and colorful works of art with an amazingly beautiful and compelling yet universal appeal.
UR New York
tells the stories of a new generation of artists…those talented urban and street creators generally hidden in the shadows who more often than not, find themselves arrested and punished for nothing more than expressing their massive talents.
UR New York
has grown up on the streets of New York City -- both artists born and bred in some of the city’s most notoriously tough neighborhoods. Continuing with their fascination with the allure of the street, Mike and Fernando started their own “gallery stand” on the corner of Prince and Greene Streets a few years ago in SoHo, New York’s original gallery district. Since claiming the street corner, Ski and 2ESAE have now moved onward and upward, received by the gallery world and now fully represented by Pop International Galleries on West Broadway.
Breaking the cycle of struggling street artists and entering the professional art world with international shows and collaborations with companies such as Nike, VH1, and of course Pop International, these two authentic, skillful and versatile artists have begun to make their name known.
BREAKING AND ENTERING
will be the first time they will present an entire solo collection making them some of the first artists ever to sponsor their own show in Miami around Art Basel in the Wynwood District.
UR New York is the premier collective to watch. Propelled by sheer determination, a hunger for success and growing validation by galleries, collectors and their peers, Mike and Fernando have a somewhat guerilla approach to the art world -- a point of pride for the two of them, who remain genuinely grateful and humble. Their unconventional approach has already allowed them some early benefits resulting from their burgeoning success. They have traveled extensively and work determinedly with kids from all walks of life, earning admiration and respect the world over.
“BE WHO YOU ARE®”
is their credo and they take their growing visibility seriously, genuinely recognizing their emerging responsibilities as they continue to have an impact on the kids they encounter. Yet Mike and Fernando still maintain a solid work ethic and commitment to their community.
BREAKING AND ENTERING
will have works inspired by traveling the world and the diverse people that have touched their lives. Ur New York brings everything back home, with an approach to art that relies heavily on the city from where they come, and the people and culture to which they’re paying homage.
Baca and Romero truly work together - allowing two distinct personalities to magically meld on the canvas, creating an enormous a fusion of energy, hope, power, community and imagination in every piece they make.
MR. BRAINWASH AT POP INTERNATIONAL GALLERIES!!!

The infamous urban artist Mr. Brainwash’s unmistakable style features cultural icons such as Angelina Jolie, Madonna, JFK and Muhammed Ali. The result is both rousing and incendiary and has launched his career to an iconic level on an astonishingly fast trajectory. Yet it would still seem that this is only a taste of what is yet to come from this artist whose career is unfolding in front of us so rapidly.
Mr. Brainwash, AKA "MBW", does not fit the stereotype of your average street vandal. His artistic process consists mostly of incorporating random modern cultural icons into a provocative mix of his own. The results are profound, provocative and inspirational. Like Banksy, Mr. Brainwash employs famous artistic and historic images, many of which are copyrighted, but amended in slight or significant ways.
His first show "Life is Beautiful" opened in Los Angeles June 18, 2008. In 2009, he created the cover art for Madonna's Celebration album. On February 14, 2010, his second show ICONS opened in New York City.
Mr. Brainwash is a pseudonym for the character Thierry Guetta in the film "Exit Through the Gift Shop", directed by Banksy. Guetta is presented in the 2010 film as a French citizen who now lives in Los Angeles, having been a proprietor of a clothing store and videographer who evolved into a street artist and gallery artist, influenced by the street artists he documented through video over the years. According to the film, Guetta was first introduced to street art by his cousin, the French street artist, Invader. The film includes authentic documentation of Space Invader, Shepard Fairey, Banksy and other well-known street artists at work on the streets, and is directed by Banksy.
