Tom Murray at Pop International

Tom Murray, LBIPP is holder of a variety of international awards for his photography. These include newspaper and magazine assignments, theatre and advertising projects as well as specialist portrait commissions in Europe, Africa and the United States.

Tom started his career as a newspaper photographer in the U.K. and South Africa. Upon the reccommendation of Lord Snowdon, he assumed the position of top photographer of the Sunday Times Magazine in London. During this time, he became the youngest photographer to be commisssioned by the Royal Family.

In the July of 1968, Tom Murray landed a dream assignment when he was asked to accompany fellow photographer Don McCullin on a photo shoot. He had no idea that the subject of the day's session was to be the decade's biggest icons, The Beatles. This sitting is now known as the "Mad Day in the Summer of 1968," and the result is a collection of twenty-three images that are heralded as some of his finest work.

Today, Tom is an established portrait photographer whose famous client sittings include names such as Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Dustin Hoffman, Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Angelica Houston, George Cukor, and many others. In addtion to overseeing his own studio and lecturing at many colleges, he is the studio manager and chief photographer of one of the oldest and most famous studios in the UK, established in Oxford in 1840.
