I came to the USA in the early 80's after leaving South Africa during the apartheid years. I earned an MFA in sculpture from the Cranbrook Art Academy near Detroit, and eventually set up a studio and settled in New York City where I have lived and worked in the visual arts ever since.
Straddling the art world, both as a gallerist and as an artist, I would like to think that I have developed a keen understanding of what collectors really want and need. In establishing POP International Galleries - alongside the great people who work here and with the fantastic artists we represent - we have indeed created the perfect vehicle through which to address those needs.
Over the years, I remain struck by a few things that are constant at POP. Through the relationships we forge and the reputation we continue to build, the collections we help grow tend to remain with people for many years...sometimes even generations. What we do adds value and substance to their lives in both subtle and profound ways, and consequently, I am convinced that as families grow, so should their art collections!
As POP is now well into its second decade of operation, I am humbled and deeply grateful for the unwavering loyalty and continued support of our collectors and friends the world over. I am also very appreciative of the devotion, hard work and loyalty of the amazing people with whom I work; but more than anything, I am filled with gratitude for the enduring support and love of my family.
During my tenure with Pop International, I have come to realize how rewarding it is see people attach emotionally with meaningful artworks. Whether just starting a collection or adding to one, I genuinely enjoy guiding art enthusiasts through the art buying process from start to finish. It gives me such joy to have happy collectors send me photographs of their acquisitions proudly hanging on their walls!
Having studied film, photography and writing, I have always been passionate about the arts. I bring an energy to the Pop gallery that I'm told is infectious and translates into a really enjoyable experience for all who spend time visiting with us.
My role as a consultant at Pop is to provide aspiring – as well as seasoned collectors – all the information and knowledge I can thoughtfully impart. I strive to make everyone feel attended to and comfortable, and to make your Pop experience the best it can possibly be.
When I first stepped into Pop, I instantly got a sense of what the gallery is all about. Pop is a fun and vibrant environment that represents dynamic artists who express themselves on the canvas and in their lives. Working with a gallery that truly cares about it’s artists, it’s collectors, it’s philanthropic outreach, and it’s employees is so refreshing and I am honored to be working in a place that functions with integrity in every aspect.
Coming from a fine art and art history education, I am revved up to share my knowledge and experience with Pop collectors. Living in New York City for the past six years, I dove into the art and museum culture, constantly attending gallery openings, curating shows, managing studios, and spending days lost in the Met. My passion and appreciation for art is an intrinsic part of who I am and I am excited to to share it. It’s a special moment when one connects with a piece of art they love, and I am here to create ease for collectors old and new alike when purchasing artwork they will cherish forever.
I'm a passionate lover, researcher, and seller of fine art worth his salt; a native New Yorker, having grown up visiting MoMA, The Met and the Museum of Natural History more than most seven year olds. Simply put, I bring fine art into the minds, hearts and lives of collectors worldwide. Through my knowledge, connoisseurship and personable approach, I strive to make acquiring art both a pleasurable and memorable experience. I am equally delighted working with first time buyers and seasoned art collectors at Pop international Galleries.
I am pleased to work with owner, Jeff Jaffe, who has built the POP Gallery brand (for over 20 years) based on representing a roster of leading international Pop artists, the highest level of customer service and unshakable integrity.
Favorite Museum: The Met - hands down. Favorite Quote by Picasso: Mediocre artists borrow, great artists steal. BTW Picasso stole that line from T.S. Eliot in 1920 - go figure...
My involvement with Pop international Galleries has always been rooted in my love of the arts and the joy of being involved with colleagues and clients in a warm, friendly and creative environment.
I bring to the gallery decades of experience in marketing, development and community outreach. I have the experience of having been an ongoing asset to numerous types of businesses and organizations across the United States. I have raised tens of millions of dollars for various projects citywide through grant writing and advocacy, working side by side with Elected Officials and community leaders.
As a lifelong advocate for parents and children, I have a passion for identifying issues, creating solutions, and overseeing their implementation from start to finish. It is my greatest pleasure to assist in helping Pop to fulfill the underlying philosophy of its mission statement, which pledges continued involvement in society at large, by participating in, supporting, and sponsoring, meaningful community and charitable events. No special idea or project will ever be viewed as too large or too small for consideration. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any interesting concepts and we can explore the possibilities together.
I am thrilled to have joined Pop International Galleries! I greatly look forward to using my vast experience as a bookkeeper and controller to provide Pop, our artists, our vendors and most importantly, our collectors, with excellent and outstanding service. I am confident that you will not only enjoy working with me, but that I will respond quickly and effectively to your needs and the needs of the gallery.
Our work as the Logistics and Display team at Pop is filled with many challenges. Whether it's making sure that the gallery is hung beautifully, the backroom is properly organized or your art is framed perfectly, we take great pride in what we do at Pop. We also take special care getting your art to you - across town or across the ocean, and it gives us great satisfaction to know that your art has made it to its destination safely.
