An event for The Book Bank Foundation will be held Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. at Pop International Galleries located at 473 W. Broadway (at West Houston Street) in SoHo. A VIP reception will begin at 6:00 p.m., where sports and entertainment celebrities, and New York’s business community are slated to attend. This year’s event will raise funds that will go towards the purchase of computer hardware/software, clothing, and food for youth as well as allow the foundation to continue to work to reduce the homeless population by providing life-applicable resources that will eventually allow them to live independently.
The BBF, known for its ongoing philanthropic and literacy outreach efforts for youth and homeless communities, is making serious strides in bringing much needed attention to an all to often over-looked population. “Too often, we turn our heads and/or look down upon homeless people and ridicule youth, and we shouldn’t,” says Glenn Toby, renowned sports agent, philanthropist, and founder of The BookBank Foundation. “The Book Bank Foundation’s purpose is to serve as a right-hand resource to youth and homeless individuals and provide them with appropriate guidance and resources that will make them positive contributors to society, and their community.”
The owners of Pop International Galleries, Jeff Jaffe and Rick Rounick are delighted to host this event. Pop International will be contributing a portion of the sales generated from this event to The Book Bank Foundation.
